Shoppers left divided after Primark makes huge change to its sizing

Clothes sizes can be SO confusing

Shoppers have been left divided after noticing Primark’s make a huge change to its sizing, with some saying ‘make it make sense’.

Sometimes it can be an absolute minefield shopping for new clothes, given that different stores seem to have their own rules when it comes to sizing.

In one shop, you might be a comfortable size 10, while in another you could find yourself struggling into a pair of size 14 jeans - as Molly-Mae Hague recently found while shopping in Zara.

And don’t even get me STARTED on bra shopping.

Now Primark has blurred the lines further after introducing a huge change to its sizing – as one shopper noticed recently when they were out browsing for new clothes.

“Primark shopping fail... Isn’t a size small like 8 to 10?” user @ayelashayla said, sharing a video showing off various items from around the shop.

In the video, they added: “POV: going to Primark for the first time in forever and picking up a bunch of size small clothes... Only to realise their small is actually a size medium.”

Previously, Primark’s small was the equivalent of a size 6-8, while medium was 10-12.

However, it looks like now it’s all changed, meaning that a size 6-8 is now an extra small, while a small is a size 10-12, and so on.

The development has been met with mixed reaction online, with some joking it’s left them feeling much more ‘skinny’, while others are just confused.

“Primark sizing is so odd!! some things are so different and fit so differently,” one commented.

“Primark is the only shop where I can be a size 8 and a size 18 at the same time make it make sense,” someone else said.

Some people found it confusing, while others joked it made them feel a lot more 'skinny'.

A third wrote: “They don’t do a size 8-10 which is absolutely ridiculous as I feel many women fall between 8-10. They do xs 6-8 or s 10-12.”

A fourth added: “My Primark has 6-8 and 10-12, what about us 8-10s idk where I fit in.”

Another said they’re usually between a size 12 and 14, meaning nothing seems to fit them as Primark only caters for those size 10-12 or 14-16.

Someone also said they're normally a size 6, but in Primark it's size 10-12 that fits them 'perfectly'.

"It doesn't make sense," the original poster wrote.

But someone else was able to see the bright side, joking: “Blew me away. I feel so SKINNY at Primark now.”

Another quipped: "I’m an XS in primark it’s very uplifting."

A Primark spokesperson said: “No changes have been made to our sizing since the last update in 2018. The fit and size consistency of our clothing is really important to us and we are continually working to improve and evolve our products to best meet our customer needs.”
