People Are Divided Over Bride's Strict Dress Code For Guests

People Are Divided Over Bride's Strict Dress Code For Guests

Is this too much?

The people of TikTok are seriously divided after learning of one bride who asked her wedding guests to stick to a specific colour code.

TikTok creator Samantha Twist (@samanthatwist) shared the guidelines she gave guests ahead of her big day including the dress code and even colours to avoid.

Watch her video here:

The former bride admitted that her rules sparked "outage" among her friends and family and her husband-to-be was subject to an "insane" amount of phone calls from irritated guests.

While some viewers agreed that asking guests to stick to a colour code was a step too far, others defended Samantha, arguing that she could do whatever she wanted on her own wedding day.

One TikTok user commented: "I would go along with it if asked, but also kinda think it's getting ridiculous how obsessed people are with looking 'aesthetic.'"

Another added: "It’s an important day for you and a normal one for everyone else. Chill a bit. It’s more important that people come and have fun and celebrate with you."

And a third joked: "If you want to decide my outfit, you’ll need to pay for it."

Admitting that they couldn't see the problem, one TikTok user commented: "Our dress code was formal. I honestly can’t stand people that show up in whatever to a wedding. It’s an important day, make an effort."

Also deciding that there was nothing wrong with Samantha's colour-code, a second wrote: "I don’t get the hate. It’s disingenuous to pretend aesthetics aren’t a part of a wedding. I personally love a theme! It’s like we all coordinated!"

While a third viewer admitted: "I would love that level of instruction, I hate feeling underdressed and also overdressed!"

And a fourth said: "It’s your wedding I’ll do whatever you want. Why are people so mad…. Make the bride and groom happy, it’s their day!"

Is this a step too far, or is the bride always right?
