Nailing the perfect blow dry can be a painstaking business, so when Dyson burst onto the scene in 2016 with a hairdryer that took the hard work out of it, it's fair to say it was a game changer.

Now, eight years later, it's back with a new product we think is going to be our new haircare BFF.

The brand new hairdryer, named the Supersonic Nural, launched this week and is set to be a game-changer, largely thanks to one attachment which promises better hair, smoother styling and a healthier scalp.

The hairdryer also comes with a variety of attachments.

What does it do?

Dyson's new Supersonic Nural hairdryer is designed to keep your hair and scalp health while drying your locks, and all-new the new smoothing attachment leaves hair smooth with less damage.

It uses high-tech sensors to activate its 'scalp protect mode' — which sounds a little robotic but actually means really good things for your tresses.

These sensors reduce the heat down to 55°C, which Dyson has identified as the 'optimum' temperature for drying hair at speed while ensuring your head doesn't get too hot.

Not only does it work out the best temperature for your head but it can also measure the distance you're holding the dryer away from your head, and all of this can mean your head doesn't end up burnt, you don't fry your hair and your hair looks much smoother too. Win-win, right?

The new Supersonic Nural sensors give Scalp Protect to prevent hair and head from being damaged.

How does it keep your scalp healthy?

A spokesperson for Dyson explains: "There is a connection between the quality of hair and a healthy scalp. The scalp tissue comprises different layers, with the outermost layer serving as a barrier against external stressors.

"But when your scalp is damaged, moisture loss can occur, a key factor in our development of the Scalp protect mode feature. This helps to maintain scalp moisture levels and allows for gentle drying."

Will it work with my hair type?

It's also not just about smooth hair for straight styles either, as wavy and curly hair types can benefit too thanks to a diffuser that uses reversible airflow for bouncy curls that are smooth and not damaged.

Yet whilst the diffuser doesn't come with scalp protect mode, it does have a dome shape to draw airflow away from the scalp for smoother, elongated waves with rounded ends.

There's also other attachments meaning you can create pretty much any style and have it looking smooth, shiny and like you brought in the professional but all from the comfort of home. Ideal right?!

The Supersonic Nural is available now at Dyson.co.uk.
