Mum praised for how she handled teenage daughter's pregnancy

She handled the situation so sensitively

A mum has received widespread praise for her sensitive reaction to her teenage daughter's pregnancy which she discovered by accident.

It all went down when Nicole (@thehennessyshouse) discovered a pregnancy test wrapper on her bathroom floor and quickly realised that it must belong to her teenage daughter Angelina. Watch below:

In the video, she revealed that after confronting Angelina, she admitted that the test was hers, but said that it had come back negative.

This resulted in what Nicole described as a 'lecture' before she had her daughter take a second test to be sure that she was not pregnant.

The second test, however, came back positive, and Nicole said she gave Angelina a hug and assured her that everything would be OK.

But this didn't stop the teen from feeling 'scared and confused'.

Nicole said that she then explained 'the three choices' Angelina had before the video came to an end.

She later clarified that these choices were keeping the baby, adoption or having an abortion and explained that she was sharing the story with her daughter's permission.

As you can imagine, the video went far from unnoticed on the social media platform, and it's been liked by a whopping 4.4 million people who were seriously impressed by Nicole's actions.

Reacting to the video, one TikTok user praised: "PRO CHOICE MOMS FOR THE WIN."

Another shared: "When my mom found out, she told me 'u have options. If u are not ready. You don't have to do this. It is your life. Nobody else's. Forever thankful."

"I love how you didn't kick her out and instead you calmed her down and gave her choices," wrote a third, while a fourth added: "Three options!!! And that's on not forcing your opinions on her & being an amazing mom."

"What an amazing and supportive mom," chimed another viewer. "It is better to understand options than judge them and tell them abstinence is the only option."

The mum was praised for not shaming her daughter.

Nicole's original video was posted back in 2020, and it was later revealed that Angelina ultimately decided to have the baby.

Angelina told BuzzFeed: "When my mom gave me all of my choices, I felt overwhelmed and didn’t know what the right decision was for me.

"As I gave myself a while to think and talk with my mom, I felt that keeping the baby was the right choice for me, knowing how supportive my family is, especially my mom."

She went on to give birth to a healthy baby boy, Cameron, and Nicole said shortly after his birth that the pair were doing brilliantly.

Popular parenting forum Mumsnet has useful advice for parents like Nicole who find themselves in the situation where their baby is having a baby.

One user advised: "Be honest with her about how you feel. Her decision is about taking responsibility for herself and boyfriend's future."

Another said: "Support her as best as you can and make clear rules about what assistance you will give as far as babysitting goes etc."
