Brazilian online star Duda Alves has passed away at the age of 22, days after opening up about the painful recovery from breast surgery.
The content creator - real name Maria Eduarda Alves dos Santos - tragically died on 13 September, with local authorities investigating her death as a suspected suicide.
A representative of the Civil Police of the Federal District confirmed the investigation to PEOPLE but declined to provide further details 'to protect the privacy of the family'.
Before her death, Alves had garnered over 800,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram, where she shared popular vlogs about daily life, beauty, relationships, and cosmetic surgery.

Just days before her death, she spoke candidly about undergoing a breast reduction and lift procedure, as well as the difficult recovery that followed.

On 9 September, she told her TikTok followers that she'd gone under the knife for both comfort and aesthetic reasons.
"I ended up removing half of what I had," Alves explained. "It was more of an aesthetic issue; I wanted to wear clothes without a bra, I wanted to have more freedom."
She subsequently described the physical toll of her recovery, saying she had experienced severe pain, vomiting and crying.
The day before her final post, she said it had been three weeks since the procedure, and that she had been experiencing 'a lot of pain', and had been 'vomiting a lot and crying from the pain constantly'.
Alves also addressed criticism she had received from men online following the surgery in the same post, with PEOPLE reporting that she described some of the commenters as 'sleazy men'.
Her death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from friends and family on social media.

Her cousin, Geovana Alves, wrote: "I had the privilege of having you in my life for 19 years! They were the best 19 years of my life.
"I will never forget everything we lived through. Every memory we shared will be kept in the most beautiful place in my heart."
She added: "I hope you know how much you were loved. How much you are loved. And that, somehow, you can feel all the love that remains here."
Close friend Clarissa Pavie also paid tribute to Duda, describing her as having 'inner beauty' that 'was so great that it overflowed'.
"What a privilege it was to share some years of my life by her side, to follow her phases, her evolution, and to be able to accumulate so many beautiful memories that will be eternal, just like you," Pavie continued. "Thank you for changing my life and for holding my hand when I needed you."
A funeral for Duda was held at São João Paulo II Parish in Brasília on 15 September.
Her death remains under investigation.
