Vicky McClure has called the sentencing of Angel Lynn's ex-boyfriend a 'disgrace' on social media.

On Tuesday, Vicky said on Twitter: "The sentence for Angel Lynn’s attacker is a disgrace, it must be looked at immediately. What deterrent is there to stop someone doing this again?"

The Line of Duty and Trigger Point star’s reaction comes after shocking CCTV footage was released last week which showed the terrifying moment Angel, 19, was grabbed and shoved into the back of a silver van by Chay Bowskill, 20.

Not long after the kidnapping, Angel fell from the van which was travelling at 60mph. She was left with traumatic and severe head injuries and brain damage and she now needs constant care from her family.

Bowskill was sentenced to a total of seven-and-a-half years in prison after being convicted of coercive and controlling behaviour and perverting the course of justice.

His friend Rocco Sansome, also 20 and from Leicestershire, was convicted by the jury of kidnapping Angel. He was given a 21-month detention.

Angel's parents, Nikki and Paddy, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Monday where they criticised Bowskill's sentencing.

Nikki said: "I think it should be looked at again.

"The day before the sentencing, the judge said, 'You’re looking at a hefty sentence' - I don’t think he gave a hefty sentence at all.

"Angel will probably still be lying in bed when he’s out, ruining some other person’s life."

Angel’s mum also discussed Angel’s recovery in hospital 16 months after the incident happened on 17th September 2020.

She said: "Pretty much the same she’s been all the time. She can’t walk, talk, eat, she’s fed through her tummy.

"We don’t know if she actually knows who we are when we visit.

"We do want to bring her home but we don’t live in the biggest of houses, there’s lots to be done."
