A couple have both been diagnosed with cancer less than six months after getting married.

The pair, Morgan and Shane Gray, who hail from Cleveland, US, first tied the knot back in October of last year and were eager to 'begin their lives as newlyweds' as they embarked on the exciting new life chapter together.

However, tragedy struck when Morgan and Shane had to face the 'challenge' of cancer after what should have been 'the best year of their lives'.

A friend to the couple, Kelli Kachmar, has since set up a GoFundMe in order to raise money for their 'medical expenses'.

The fundraiser is titled: "Help Morgan and Shane Gray Beat Cancer!"

Kelli began: "As many of you know, two of my closest friends, Morgan and Shane Gray, have had a brutal year, after what should be the best year of their lives.

"In October of 2022, Morgan and Shane started their marriage and couldn’t wait to begin their lives as newlyweds."

She went on to tell prospective donators that their 'first challenge' came back in February when Shane was diagnosed with testicular cancer that had spread to his surrounding lymph nodes.

"He had surgery followed by 21 chemo infusions to get him back to full health," Kelli continued.

Luckily though, a few months later in June, Shane was given the incredible news that his cancer was in remission.

However, just some weeks after that, his spouse Morgan went to the doctor for breast examination appointment.

A GoFundMe page has since been created for the couple to help cover medical expenses.

The GoFundMe description goes on: "While the initial thought was that everything was fine, an ultrasound and biopsy were performed to rule anything out."

The results from the tests were 'yet another blow' to the Gray family after they found out that Morgan had triple negative breast cancer.

Kelli added: "After undergoing a double mastectomy and an egg retrieval procedure, Morgan recently began the 1st of her 8 chemo infusions."

While the prognosis for Morgan's cancer is 'good' given how 'early' she detected it - Kelli explained that the cost of the couples' respective surgeries, chemo and IVF are now 'starting to stack up'.

She concluded with a thank you message to anyone who could donate to the admirable cause: "Between a wedding and two cancer diagnoses in less than a year, Morgan and Shane are endlessly grateful for any donation."

At the time of writing, $15,636 has been raised out of the $25,000 goal.

You can donate to the GoFundMe page here.
