Disney obsessives and adrenaline junkies are both in for a royal treat, as this week, bosses at the mass media firm have announced proposed plans to drop $1.9 billion on a huge park revamp.

The Disneyland park in California could be in for a serious makeover if the plans go ahead - and the latest update is very promising, to say the least.

This week, in a city council meeting between the Hollywood giant and the city of Anaheim, California itself, Disney offered to shell out just shy of $2 billion on the project as part of a proposed agreement.

The already 490-acre space is set to feature a whole new hoard of thrilling rides and attractions, unique shops and plenty of mouth-watering restaurants for guests to choose from.

Among the Disney hits that will be featured in the plans for the park are Frozen, Peter Pan, Tangled, Toy Story and Zootopia.

The news comes just weeks after the entertainment conglomerate announced plans to invest a staggering $60 billion in improving its already hugely successful parks and cruises over the next 10 years.

The Anaheim, Cali resort will soon be expanding.

if the plans are approved by city leaders, visitors to Disneyland could take a voyage north to Arendelle, where they can explore the home kingdom of Frozen sisters Anna and Elsa.

Guests will be given the chance to embark on a heart-racing adventure on the ice-cold seas and tuck into a fine-dining meal at a castle fit for a snowman.

For fans of Tangled, the plans could mean a tremendous tower will be constructed, offering visitors a look out over the beautiful forest below, and a gondola ride will deliver them to the picturesque lantern festival from the iconic movie.

For those with a preference for pixies and pirates, a brand new area inspired by Peter Pan is set to guests a ride down the river, side by side with the iconic Lost Boys.

You'll arrive bang in the middle of Pixie Hollow, where you'll meet Tinker Bell and her fellow fairy friends.

Zootopia is one of the movies which could be brought to life if the plans are approved.

A handy and hefty new parking structure could also be in the works.

This new 17,000-space structure is set to be built to directly adjoin the nearby Santa Ana Freeway under the proposal, and will be significantly grander than the existing Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals on site parking.

Also, on top of the huge investment into improving the park's attractions, Disney will funnel funds into clearing the Magic Way, Clementine Street, Gene Autry Way and Hotel Way in order to make space for the proposed theme park expansion.

Products Chairman at The Walt Disney Company, Josh D’Amaro, previously told press of the riveting plans, name-dropping several other productions that could be set to feature in the future.

"We have a wealth of untapped stories to bring to life across our business," he explained.

"Frozen, one of the most successful and popular animated franchises of all time, could have a presence at the Disneyland Resort.

"Wakanda has yet to be brought to life. The world of Coco is just waiting to be explored. There’s a lot of storytelling opportunity."
