People are flooding to social media in delight after a woman lent her wedding dress to another bride on the other side of the globe.

Prepare to shed some happy tears:

Emily Heathbar was contacted by a 'complete stranger' on Instagram who inquired about buying her wedding dress.

Emily initially refused because she's 'never felt more beautiful' compared to how she felt on her wedding day.

However, after Emily learned more about the Instagram user, she slowly changed her mind.

The user, called Simone, explained to Emily she lived in South Africa and the designer of the dress isn't sold there and she had 'desperately' been trying to find one second-hand.

Emily recalled: "So I started thinking about how I cried the first time I put it on and how this dress that was so important to me has just been languishing in a closet for the past three years.

"So I was like, if you can send it back to me after you're done, you can borrow it sure, go ahead."

Emily sent her wedding dress to the UK to Simone's mum, who then transported it to Johannesburg.

"There was a real sisterhood of the travelling pants magic, because she put the dress on and it fit her absolutely perfectly, no alterations needed," Emily adds.

Simone was so grateful to Emily she even invited Emily and her husband to her and her partner's wedding.

Emily explains: "Simone and Daniel and their families truly made us feel like family. I feel like I have a whole new set of relatives on the other side of the world."

One user said: "What an incredible story!"

Another commented: "This could be a book, then movie. Wow, what an amazing story."

"Yes, yes, I love this! I used to run a wedding rental company and we had so many great stories," put a third.

While someone else added: "Love women supporting women. This is so pure. Crazy where life can take you with your own kindness."
