Prince William has been praised for honouring the life of Rob Burrows with a touching gesture.

Yesterday (18 September), Lindsey Burrow, the wife of late UK rugby star Rob Burrow, announced the cover of her forthcoming book - Take Care: A Memoir of Love, Family & Never Giving Up.

Along with announcing the cover, Lindsey shared that Prince William had put pen to paper for it.

The royal had met Rob when awarding him with a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in Headingley, in January of this year.

He had announced his retirement from Leeds Rhinos rugby team in 2017.

Following diagnosis, Rob worked tirelessly to campaign for funding for treatment of MND.

In turn, Lindsey became his caregiver alongside working as a physiotherapist for the NHS - as well as raising the children.

When revealing the cover for Take Care on social media yesterday, Lindsey included the caption: "Take Care will be published on the 27 February 2025 and I am happy to be able to share the cover with you. I’m honoured to say that the book features a forward written by HRH Prince William."

"Take Care is a memoir of love, family and never giving up," the message continued. "As well as telling our family story, I want it to highlight the work that so many carers in the UK are doing in the hope that it will give readers and families hope to overcome challenges in their own lives."

The Prince and Princess of Wales' team replied to the post with a blue heart emoji.

The memoir was first announced in May, before Rob passed away, and will eventually be published in 2025.

Following Rob's death, Prince William posted the following statement on X: "A legend of Rugby League, Rob Burrow had a huge heart. He taught us, ‘in a world full of adversity, we must dare to dream.’ Catherine and I send our love to Lindsey, Jackson, Maya and Macy," before signing it off with 'W'.

Penguin Random House wrote of the book: "Take Care: A Memoir of Love, Family & Never Giving Up explores the deepest reserves of resilience, personal sacrifice and hope that Lindsey Burrow exhibited on a daily basis when her family’s life was upended by the terminal MND diagnosis.

"Told in Lindsey’s characteristically humble, charming and inspirational style, Take Care explores her life and shares her honest experiences of finding strength in the good and the bad times, in order to offer readers and families hope to overcome challenges in their own lives."
