Prince Harry calls out James Corden over controversial 'soccer' remark during latest TV show appearance

Prince Harry took no time at all in correcting James Corden for using an Americanised term during a recent TV show appearance.

The Duke of Sussex appeared on Corden's After Hours show to discuss the World Cup.

At some point during the chat, Harry was left notably confused when Corden kept referring to football as 'soccer' despite Corden being a fellow Brit.

"So are you a fan of soccer?" the Gavin and Stacey actor asked the royal.

"I always thought you were too posh to go to a school where they played soccer," Corden added, prompting Harry to correct him, saying: "Too posh to play football, you mean."

He then asked: "Why do you keep calling it soccer?"

Corden then responded: "Because we’re in the United States, baby."

Despite his reasoning, he continued to refer to the game as football for the majority of the rest of the conversation.

On the subject of football, Harry revealed that while he did play it in school, he didn't do too well the older he got.

"You know what, in prep school, I was on the first team. And then I went to the bigger school, and I ended up on the E team. Big A team, down to E team. So that didn't feel very good," he admitted.

Elsewhere during the show, Corden asked Harry to rank himself among some of the most famous Harrys of the UK, including England captain Harry Kane, singer Harry Styles, and wizard Harry Potter.

The prince put Styles in the top spot, Kane second and tied in the third spot with Potter.

"We'll have a Quidditch-off," the father-of-two joked, clearly taking the whole thing in jest.

When asked what it would take for England to reach a World Cup final, Harry looked back on the team’s semi-final defeat to Argentina, who later lost the tournament to Spain 1-0.

"I have to be very careful what I say here. What’s it gonna take? It’s a mindset," he replied.

The duke continued: "I think that what we saw was a slight shock value for the team.

"We’re one-nil up against Argentina, and then there was this immediate temptation to fall into defence. I don’t think it was a tactic; I don’t think that was the plan. It just happened.

"You can’t in 72, 73 minutes, however long it was, you can’t defend a one-nil lead against a team like that."
