Meghan Markle made her comeback to Instagram on New Year's Day after quitting social media back in 2021.

The former royal's first post showed her running along a beach barefoot, before stopping to write '2025' in the sand.

Since the Duchess' return to social media, she's accumulated over 800,000 followers who are clearly keen to see what she does next.

After she tied the knot with Prince Harry back in 2018, the two launched a joint royal profile on Instagram. That account obtained more than 1 million followers in six hours.

However, they would go on to deactivate their profile in 2021.

Elle Magazine reported at the time that they'd made the decision as they were tired of the backlash they'd received for leaving the UK to head to the US.

Markle spoke on the onslaught of online hate in an interview for the Teenage Therapy Podcast: "I’m told that in 2019 I was the most trolled person in the entire world, male or female. What was able to just be manufactured and churned out, it’s almost unsurvivable, that’s so big.

"You can’t think of what that feels like. I don’t care if you’re 15 or 25, if people are saying things about you that aren’t true, what that does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging."

Upon her return to the site, Markle has already gotten tongues wagging.

Her exclusion of the word 'the' from her profile has led to some speculating she's getting divorced.

The beach video also led to a royal expert speculating that it contained a 'hidden message'.

Ingrid Seward told The Sun that the clip indicated she wanted to start 2025 off on a 'strong note' with some separation from her husband and two kids.

Seward told the paper: "There's always there's always a hidden message with Meghan. I think it's a positive message: 'Hi, I'm here. I'm back. I'm doing my thing, and Harry will be doing his thing, and I should be doing mine' - and I think it's just a positive message.

"They've been sort of dogged a bit last year by lots of rumours about the state of their marriage, and whether Harry was happy and why we haven't seen more of Meghan, and I think she realizes that she wants to start 2025 on a very positive and sort of strong note.

"You know, 'look at me, I'm here. Watch out for me and what I'm doing'."

Whether or not a secret message was intended is not yet clear.
