Back in 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a bombshell interview.

At the time, the Duchess of Sussex was pregnant with her second child, Princess Lilibet, and bravely discussed her treatment while being a member of the royal family following her wedding to Harry a few years prior in 2018.

The couple famously stepped down as royals in 2020, going on to relocate to the United States and completely step away from public life in the UK.

During the interview, Meghan opened up about the horrible treatment she received from online trolls, the media, and allegedly the royal family itself, who she claimed often racially discriminated her.

She confided in Oprah about racist questions she faced from a senior royal when she told then she was pregnant with her son, Archie.

According to Meghan, she was questioned on what colour skin her child would be.

She accused King Charles and Queen Camilla of not 'protecting' her, saying: "They weren't willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband."

She confessed at the time: "That was hard to reconcile because it was only once we were married and everything started to really worsen that I came to understand that not only was I not being protected, but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family."

Abhorrent headlines followed from tabloids, which reduced Meghan to her skin tone, and suggested that her admissions about suicidal ideation were exaggerated.

With Harry by her side, Meghan told Oprah that she 'didn't want to be alive anymore' during the peak of the crisis, but that her plea for help was ignored by senior royals.

Following the extremely racist treatment Meghan faced from the media at the time as a result of the rumour, Harry revealed: "No one from my family ever said anything."

Harry recently opened up about how royal life impacted his mental health and revealed one of his 'biggest weaknesses'.

"I think again, when you are kind of trapped within this bubble, it kind of feels like there’s no way out," Harry said.

"What happened to my mum and the fact that I was a kid and felt helpless, there comes the inner turmoil. I felt helpless."

He added: "One of my biggest weaknesses is feeling helpless."
