Meghan Markle celebrated the Fourth of July holiday by sharing an adorable new Instagram post, however, some fans are distracted by a key detail in one of the pictures.
The California native marked the celebration by sharing a sweet anecdote about her second date with Harry, and how cupcakes are now a key motif for their entire family.
In the caption of the post, the mum-of-two shared: “Our second date was the 4th of July 2016 and H brought me cupcakes to celebrate. Now, all these years later, our two children are in on the tradition.”
She added: “Happy Independence Day! May your day be as sweet as these cupcakes.”

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, and Prince Harry, 40, are seen looking very cosy in a selfie, which the former Suits actor shared in a carousel of Independence Day snaps.

The first picture in the carousel shows six decorated cupcakes on a plate, with four topped with white icing and decorated with blueberries for eyes and a whole strawberry for a mouth.
As the picture made the rounds on social media, fans soon compared the faces to Halloween ghosts, although it is unlikely that the With Love, Meghan host was intentionally going for a spooky vibe.

“The cupcakes with the two blueberries and one strawberry look like creepy Halloween faces,” one person on Reddit remarked.
Another Reddit user replied: “I thought they were snowmen for second!”
While a third said: “I saw geese.”

Three of the cupcakes have a swirled red, blue and white icing pattern and are topped with what appears to be a chocolate disk with a peace sign on top.
Last month, Meghan was criticised for sharing an innocent video of her and Prince Harry doing a 'labour dance’ ahead of the birth of their daughter Lilibet.
In honour of her fourth birthday on 4 June 2025, Meghan shared the clip the pair dancing around the delivery room.
"Four years ago today, this also happened," she described the video.

"Both of our children were a week past their due dates…so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work - there was only one thing left to do!"
Whilst many praised the former Suits actress for refusing to reign in her personality for the sake of social media, others launched criticism in her direction, branding the couple 'cringe'.

During a podcast appearance shortly after the video went viral, Meghan said she's 'grateful' that 'being back on social' she's able to share her content 'on [her] own terms', and will continue to turn a blind eye to trolls in the future.
