Meghan Markle defended after she's accused of ‘copying’ Kate Middleton with ‘new’ detail

Meghan Markle has been fiercely defended by fans after being accused of 'copying' Kate Middleton as online critics spotted what they deemed a 'new' detail in her appearance.

Over the weekend (20 September), the likes of Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, made a surprise appearance at the One805Live! concert benefiting first responders in Santa Barbara, California.

The event, which raises funds for essential equipment and mental wellness programs for Santa Barbara County’s first responders, saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex step out on stage as Harry presented an award to Santa Barbara County Fire Chief, Mark Hartwig.

It didn't take long for people to rush to social media, however, to share their thoughts on how Meghan's locks looked during the event with many claiming she'd lightened her hair in an effort to 'copy' the Princess of Wales. As royal fans will no doubt know, she recently switched things up from her signature rich brunette locks to a much blonder shade.

One X user penned: "They are saying Meghan lightened her hair to copy Kate."

"Looks like she's sporting a Catherine WIG now," chimed in a second, referring to the unsubstantiated claims that Kate has recently been donning wigs during royal appearances.

It's important to note, however, that such speculation is exactly that - speculative.

A third hit out: "Meghan Markle, you're so predictable. Why can't you just be yourself and stop trying to emulate the Princess of Wales by lightening your hair colour? It's so sad."

"Of course she got highlights," sneered a fourth.

Many others, however, who weren't on board the absolutely tireless anti-Meghan Markle brigade, pointed out that the Netflix star and mother-of-two has been seen with such locks for 'months' now and that any apparent new change was simply down to the sun and stage lighting.

"'Meghan lightened her hair' when this is her from months ago?? You guys are so unserious," called out a fourth.

A fifth chimed in: "Did they not see photos of Meghan while she was married to Trevor? Her hair was AUBURN."

"She actually didn’t lighten her hair. It’s the stage & sun lighting. If you look at the video with her and Harry walking away, you will see that her hair is very dark," pointed out another.

And a final X user similarly echoed: "And in the video of her walking, she clearly has her dark locks, they’re desperate."
