Taylor Swift fans in disbelief as King Charles makes unexpected reference to singer

Unexpectedly, it seems that His Majesty is a 'Swiftie'

King Charles made an unexpected reference to a Taylor Swift song in a recent Instagram post, and he's not the only royal that's a fan of the singer.

If there's one thing we know about the royal family - they love a concert for all kinds of celebrations.

The family have hosted some pretty amazing line-ups over the years, including for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee concert, which saw singers including George Ezra, Mabel, Sam Ryder, and Diana Ross take to the stage.

But little did we know that the King is actually a fan of the same singer as his grandchildren - who met the superstar back in June 2024, during her iconic Eras Tour.

Prince William took Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10, to Taylor Swift's Wembley show, and managed to get a snap with the singer and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, backstage.

The gig also happened to fall on the Prince of Wales' birthday.

The artist posted the snap on Instagram, which she captioned: "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start."

But King Charles is the latest royal to show his love for the star, using her song 'London Boy' for a recent Instagram video.

The clip saw the King on a visit to a culture, technology and creativity festival in Shoreditch, East London.

The account captioned the post: "Shoreditch in the afternoon," which also happens to be a lyric from the song.

Fans of both the royals, and the song-writer, were delighted to see their two worlds collide.

One user said: "Love the fact they used a Taylor Swift song - Princess Charlotte approved."

Another noted: "This song choice is giving me life coming from an official royal account."

"The royal family are certified 'Swifties'," a third added.

A fourth said: "His grandkids love Taylor Swift, I guess so does his Majesty."

The song refers to the star's former boyfriend Joe Alwyn, who lives in the city.

Addressing the 2023 breakup in an interview with The Guardian, the actor said: "I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control.

"And, right from the beginning, tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course."

The actor added: "So noise outside of that, I think I've done what lots of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is just try and ignore it."
