It has been announced that King Charles and Queen Camilla will be making a state visit to the US, and the move has left many people unimpressed.
The news was shared via the Royal Family X account on social media.
A statement revealed: "On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America."
It continued: "Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the UK and the US, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence.

The post finished with: "The King will continue to Bermuda to undertake His Majesty’s first Royal Visit as Monarch to a British Overseas Territory."
It follows Trump's state visit to the UK back in September 2025.

Over on Truth Social, Donald Trump wrote: Melania and I are pleased to announce that Their Majesties, the King and Queen of the United Kingdom, will visit the United States for a Historic State Visit from April 27-30th, which will include a beautiful Banquet Dinner at the White House on the evening of April 28th."
He continued: "This momentous occasion will be even more special this year, as we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of our Great Country. I look forward to spending time with the King, whom I greatly respect. It will be TERRIFIC!"
Despite Trump's reassurances of respect and anticipation about the occasion, the move has sparked a backlash from many people online.
One critic wrote: "Trump is trying to invade another Kingdom (Greenland via Denmark) in Europe-one of our greatest allies. And you disrespect them by going and grovelling to Trump. I am so ashamed to be British right now. Things could get a bit frosty between Royal families now I guess..."

This X user hit out at the move, calling it "Spineless, pathetic and an insult to our served forces. What a disgraceful decision."
Another slammed it as "Bad advice, bad decision, bad bad bad".
After tensions arose between Trump and Sir Keir Starmer over the Iran war, one social media user questioned the decision: "Following the President’s 'go get your own oil' comments, this visit is a national embarrassment. Why are we rewarding an administration that insults us with the prestige of a State Visit? The PM must withdraw this advice. No respect, no Royal visit."
Others called on the British Government to backtrack on their advice and decision.
One wrote angrily: "This is a major mistake which Trump will use to further validate his own reign as President. Trump is an unacceptable human being and the King should not do anything which gives the appearance of approving of him. The King is further demeaning the Royal Family."
