Kate Middleton has long been praised by royal fans for her impeccable and stylish fashion sense - and her outfit at Trooping The Colour was no different.
The Princess of Wales, 44, looked incredible in a pastel blue dress by Catherine Walker, which featured white detailing on the collar and pockets.
She layered the elegant garment over a white dress and completed the look with a matching wide-brimmed hat and white heels.
The annual royal event, also known as ‘The King’s Birthday Parade,’ which took place on Saturday (13 June), is a ceremonial day performed every year in London to celebrate the official birthday of the sovereign.

But as usual, all eyes were on Kate and what she would be wearing, and it turns out that there’s actually a distinct meaning behind the Princess's recent blue outfits.
Speaking exclusively to Tyla, psychologist Dr Patricia Britto explained that Kate’s continued use of blue is ‘particularly interesting from a psychological perspective because blue is one of the most universally trusted colours’.

She said, “It is associated with calmness, stability, reliability, and emotional composure.
“In a public-facing role where every appearance is scrutinised, blue communicates reassurance without demanding attention, which makes it a powerful choice for a senior royal.”
Dr Britto added that there is also a ‘subtle emotional intelligence’ behind choosing softer shades of blue, rather than deeper colours.
She explained: “While darker navy tones can project authority and formality, this powder blue feels more approachable and nurturing.
“It creates a sense of warmth and accessibility while still maintaining the dignity expected of a future queen. The colour invites connection rather than distance, which is an important balance for modern public figures.”

As for why Kate has worn blue on a number of occasions recently, the expert revealed that repeating a signature colour can also strengthen personal branding and recognition.
Just last month, the royal wore a blue suit for her solo trip to Italy, which was her first official overseas trip since undergoing cancer treatment, after she made her diagnosis public in March 2024, for which she underwent chemotherapy.
“Over time, audiences begin to associate certain colours with particular qualities and values,” she said, adding: “ Kate’s use of blue has become linked with elegance, steadiness and confidence, helping reinforce a consistent public image that feels both reassuring and authentic.”
Also speaking to Tyla, Oriona Robb, celebrity & Royal stylist, agrees that blue has long been ‘one of Kate’s strongest colours because it complements her colouring beautifully while carrying regal associations’.
The expert outlined: “This softer icy shade feels particularly fresh for summer ceremonial dressing. It photographs exceptionally well, stands out against military uniforms and crowds without appearing overpowering, and brings a sense of elegance that feels timeless.”

Robb added that the monochromatic styling, including matching accessories, also creates a ‘seamless visual story that feels refined, intentional, and instantly memorable.’
She commented, "It is classic royal fashion executed with modern precision.
“What I find most successful about the outfit is its balance of tradition and modernity. The sharp shoulders, clean lapels, and architectural hat reference classic royal style, while the fresh colour palette keeps the look contemporary."
Who knew that a blue dress could hold so much meaning!
