Kate Middleton's rarely-spotted signature has made an appearance on a new letter and it includes two lesser-seen royal details.
The Princess of Wales is a patron of the Forward Trust, which supports individuals affected by addiction, crime, homelessness or long-term unemployment.
Yesterday (24 November), she released a letter for the charity's Taking Action on Addiction Campaign to mark the start of Addiction Awareness Week.
In a message penned on a Kensington Palace letterhead, she wrote: "This Addiction Awareness Week, I am, as always, very glad to lend my support to this hugely important campaign.

"Through my role as Patron of the Forward Trust, it has been humbling to see the significant progress made to better understand addiction and tackle the stigma surrounding it, but there remains much more to do."

She continued: "Addiction is not a choice, or a personal failing, but a complex mental health condition that should be met with empathy and support.
"But still, even now in 2025, people’s experience of addiction is shaped by fear, shame and judgement. This needs to change."

Kate concluded by calling for greater conversation and compassion around addiction so those dealing with the disease 'know they are not alone'.
A closer look at the letter reveals Kate's rarely-seen solo cypher stamped in gold - a 'C' for Catherine below a crown, over 'Kensington Palace'.
And, the typed letter was signed 'Catherine' in black ink, her full name, which Prince William uses to refer to her.
Kate typically signs her letters with her royal name, though she uses her full name related to the charities that are near and dear to her heart.

Along the letter which was shared on Instagram, the caption read: "Proud to be Patron of the Forward Trust this Addiction Awareness Week. Addiction is not a choice, or a personal failing, but a complex mental health condition that should be met with empathy and support."
Catherine - who became more commonly known at Kate during her time at the University of St Andrews - doesn't share her signature often. In fact, members of the Royal Family are said to largely avoid signing autographs to lessen the risks of forgery.
In 2022, she explained why she couldn't sign her name on school children's drawings during the Chelsea Flower Show.

"My name's Catherine. I'm not allowed to write my signature, it's just one of those rules," Kate said.
