The Princess of Wales just lost out on a major award that fans were convinced she would have in the bag - and another Royal has replaced her.

We all know that when it comes to fashion, Kate Middleton knows her stuff and is somewhat a style icon in the Royal Family.

The wife of Prince William is known around the world for her elegant and timeless looks, with a wardrobe sporting everything from colourful designer suits to floral dresses.

In fact, people are so obsessed with Kate's impeccable fashion sense, she even had to stop sharing the details of her outfits during certain public engagements in order to keep the focus on her charitable causes.

In February, a Kensington Palace source told The Sunday Times it will stop revealing details of Kate's clothing choices for the foreseeable future.

They said: "There is an absolute feeling that it is not about what the princess is wearing. She wants the focus to be on the really important issues, the people and the causes she is spotlighting."

So, with all of this considered, the fact that Kate has missed out on a recent accolade that's all to do with fashion, is sure to leave royal fans shocked.

The award in question is the release of the first top ten names in Tatler's annual Best Dressed in Britain List - a ranking of those who are trendsetting and leading the way in fashion in the UK.

In the publication's own words, to earn a place on the coveted list, 'one must exude timeless elegance and that modern je ne sais quoi'.

The full list, which will feature 25 names in total, will be released on 9 August in the magazine's September issue.

But for now, fashion fans have been given a teaser of the first 10 names, and to people's surprise, the Princess of Wales has not been included.

Kate topped the list in 2022, while Meghan Markle earned the number one spot in 2018, but neither of them have made the cut this year.

One Royal who does appear on the list however, has taken spot number seven - Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall.

The outlet wrote: "Riding with polish and dressing with panache, Princess Anne’s daughter is a vision on and off the horse.

"Her recent wardrobe hits have been nothing short of spectacular, from the perfect Rebecca Vallance tea dresses at Ascot to the tailored Fairfax & Favor pieces at Badminton."
