Kate Middleton just given surprising new role and Princess Charlotte helped her with it

The Princess of Wales has been keeping herself busy with an important task in recent months

Kate Middleton has just added another new role to her very impressive roster - and this time, her daughter Princess Charlotte appears to be helping her out.

The Princess of Wales, 43, has received an array of titles, decorations and honorary appointments during her time as a royal. She has also represented her family in a slew of different public engagements and overseas tours, and has played a part in lots of charity work. And, when she’s not busy with all that, Kate of course has her own hobbies and additional interests that take up her spare time.

As a keen sport lover, she holds the title of the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, which means she’s a staple at Wimbledon each year.

The princess also has a creative side and she studied art history at the University of St. Andrews, where she gained a passion for photography.

And now, putting these skills to use, Kate temporarily became a museum creator as she put together her own ‘mini display’ at the V&A East Storehouse in London, following her visit to the UK gallery last month.

Her exhibition, which is called ‘Makers and Creators,’ was unveiled today (30 July) and will remain on display until early 2026

Kate, who has been patron of the Victoria and Albert Museum since 2018, picked out a selection of objects from across the V&A’s various collections, with some help from the museum's curatorial team.

Some of the most notable items in the collection include a watercolour painting of a forest glade by Beatrix Potter, as well as a childhood picture album which belonged to the British author’s father, Rupert Potter.

The Princess of Wales also picked out a hand-quilted bedcover, fittingly made in Wales, and a Morris & Co furnishing screen, which was designed by artist William Morris’s assistant J.H.Dearle, according to People.

But there was one item in particular that seems like it could have been inspired by her 10-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte.

The artefact in question is a Fairy of the Woodland Glades costume, which was worn by Diana Vere during The Royal Ballet’s 1960 production of The Sleeping Beauty.

Dedicated royal family fans will know that Charlotte is a big fan of dance - ballet in particular - and she and her mother have enjoyed outings to watch it on stage.

She’s been signed up for lessons since she was three years old and Kate mentioned in 2023 that the youngster loves ‘ballet and tap’.

According to Hello! Magazine, she quipped: “My daughter Charlotte likes dancing. She loves ballet and tap.”

Museum director Tristram Hunt told People that during Kate’s visit to pick out the items on June 10, that she was “was really interested and knowledgeable, particularly around textiles, around some of the woven silk material from William Morris, looking at some of the wallpapers.”

He added: “She’s got both great passion and interest in material culture, so for her I think it was also a really enjoyable visit.”

“She had a super energy. She was very energetic and focused. We last saw her about two years ago. She retains this great passion and interest in creativity and making and design. It was wonderful to be able to host her.”
