Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has been pictured sharing an incredibly moving moment and fans can't get enough.

Taking to X yesterday (2 October), the Princess posted a photo embracing a girl called Liz Hatton, a budding photographer with an aggressive form of cancer.

Kate wrote: "A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us," and then used a heart emoji before signing off 'W&C'.

The post consisted of a photo of Kate hugging Liz, as well as a picture with Liz, her family, and Prince William.

Liz's mother, who uses the social media handle @2ndTimeMama, explained Liz's story to her followers on 12 May.

She wrote: "Liz is 16 and lives to take photographs. She has a rare and aggressive cancer which doctors have told her means she has between 6 months and 3 years to live. We hope every day for a lifetime for her but if we can’t achieve that we hope to create her a lifetime of memories. If we can make even one of her photography bucket list happen for her she will be beyond delighted."

She then went on to tag various accounts in the hopes they'd see and give Liz an opportunity to photograph them.

On 13 May, a user wrote: "Just thinking of some well known folks based in England to tag," and included the Prince and Princess of Wales' handle, before adding: "Perhaps a few doors could be opened for your daughter to have her photography dreams come true. Sent from Vancouver, Canada with good wishes."

Given the royals' post, it seems it caught their attention.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: "Following the investiture both the Prince and Princess of Wales met Liz privately with her family to hear about her day and journey."

In response to the meeting, Liz's mum wrote: "We cannot thank you both or your incredible team enough for the amazing opportunity you gave Liz or the wonderful day that we have experienced as a family. It’s a day none of us will ever forget and we are so very grateful to you all."

While another wrote: "Catherine, it’s so great to see you looking so healthy and beautiful."

And someone else commented: "Liz is such a talented young lady. Good to see Princes Catherine looking so good."

The meeting is especially poignant given the Princess' diagnosis and subsequent recovery of cancer.

On 9 September, Kate announced she was cancer-free.

In a statement, she said: "Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.

"I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.

"Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life."
