Just when you think you know everything there is to know about the most prominent members of the royal family, you discover another connection you never knew about.
This is true for royal fans on social media who have only just discovered that Prince William and Harry have a step-sister.
Through Their father, Prince Charles' marriage to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the royal brothers have a step-sister named Laura Lopes.
The news was a complete surprise for Twitter users, with one person tweeting: "I've just found out Harry and William Windsor have a stepsister and I'm like, wha'?"
Another Twitter user shared: "The f....how is it possible I or many others don't know this
And a third said: "Really?"
Here's the deets. Camilla had two children, Laura and Tom, during her first marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles. They married in July 1973 and had two children together; Tom in December 1974 and Laura in January 1978.
Charles and Princess Diana finalised their divorce in 1996 and Camilla and Charles made their first public appearance as a couple in 1999 at the 50th birthday party for Camilla’s sister at the Ritz Hotel in London. They got married in 2005 and have been together ever since.
Unlike her step-brothers who are known around the world as being two of the most recognisable members of the royal family and their charity work and philanthropy, Laura has kept quite a low profile.
Laura was educated at a Catholic girls boarding school in Dorset. She went on to study History of Art and Marketing at Oxford Brookes University.
Laura has been married to chartered accountant Harry Lopes in Wiltshire in 2006. Both William and Harry were in attendance.
