It's been two days now since Zohran Mamdani was elected as New York City's new mayor after beating Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa to the victory.
The 34-year-old democratic socialist, who is set to become the city’s most liberal mayor in generations, has made history after becoming the Big Apple's first Muslim mayor, the first of South Asian heritage, and the first born in Africa. He's also the first Millennial to take up the role.
Many New Yorkers, as well as those from further afar all over the world, have been rejoicing both in the streets and on social media following Mamdani's win - a result which saw the largest voter turnout in a mayoral race in more than half a century, with over two million casting ballots, according to the city’s Board of Elections.
"The conventional wisdom would tell you that I am far from the perfect candidate," Mamdani declared to a roaring crowd at his victory party.

"I am young, despite my best efforts to grow older. I am Muslim. I am a democratic socialist. And most damning of all, I refuse to apologise for any of this."
"New York, tonight you have delivered a mandate for change," the politician further said, vowing to 'wake up each morning with a singular purpose: To make this city better for you than it was the day before'.
Understandably, the internet is a little bit obsessed with all things Mamdani - as well as his wife, Rama Duwaji - at the moment, with many keen to know all they can about him.
Many were quick to notice that Mamdani is partial to a tasteful dose of bling, rings specifically, and are intrigued to know the significance of each of them.
Now, each of the three rings Mamdani regularly wears has its own story, as per India Today.

The ring he dons on his right index finger is reportedly a family heirloom from his paternal grandfather, acquired during a trip to Syria in 2007.
"It is something that was blessed and something that I continue to wear," he said, adding: "It was my way of keeping him in my life."
Mamdani has previously said that it helps him feel connected to his grandfather’s memory.
The second ring, which is also worn on his right hand, was a gift from his wife, Rama Duwaji, and was bought during a trip to Tunisia.
And the third ring is none other than his wedding band, worn on his left hand.
The outlet added that Mamdani started wearing jewellery after his grandfather died in 2013 'as a way to remain connected to him'.
