Donald Trump appeared seriously 'rattled' after receiving an eruption of boos at a stadium he wants to be named after him.
On Sunday (9 November), the 79-year-old Republican watched on as the Washington Commanders lost 44-22 to the visiting Detroit Lions at the Northwest Stadium in Maryland.
There were loud boos from spectators in the stands when Trump was shown on the Jumbotron late in the first half and once again when he was introduced by the stadium announcer at halftime.
"We’re gonna have a good game. Things are going along very well. The country’s doing well. The Democrats have to open it up," he said.

He failed to mention, however, the record-breaking government shutdown, which has left nearly 42 million Americans who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, AKA food stamps, concerned over how they will put food on the table now that benefits have been delayed or disrupted.

The Washington, DC area has strong Democratic support, while the US president's cuts to the government have affected many workers in the vicinity of the Commanders' stadium, as per the Guardian.
The boos came after reports emerged claiming Trump wants the Commanders to name their upcoming $3.7 billion 65,000-seat stadium, which is set to open in 2030, after him, having previously clashed with the franchise over renaming the team to the old Redskins moniker.

"It’s what the president wants, and it will probably happen," the White House official told ESPN. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt added in an email: "That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible."
After catching light of footage from the event showing Trump being booed, people rushed to social media to share their thoughts.
One X user penned: "Oh he was rattled, you could barely hear him even over the speakers!"

A second chimed in: "This is worst Trump has ever gotten booed. How embarrassing."
"So I take it they don't actually want the stadium named after him," joked a third while a fourth piped up: "He was shook."
Another echoed: "That moment when the smile drops. The boos were LOUD!"
And a final X user added: "Oh, he’s seething. Good."

Trump's attendance at the stadium was the first time a sitting president has attended a regular-season NFL game in almost half a century, with the last president to do so being Jimmy Carter back in 1978.
