An intriguing new conspiracy theory seemingly has the internet in a chokehold, alleging that Sabrina Carpenter had a part to play in Zohran Mamdani's mayoral election victory.
For those in need of a reminder, the 34-year-old politician - a socialist democrat by his own admission - made history with his colossal win on Tuesday (4 Nov), becoming New York City's first Muslim mayor, the first of South Asian heritage, and the first born in Africa.
Despite both his youth and progressive values known for having a number of America's fellow political leaders up the wrong way - especially Donald Trump - East Coast residents roared with excitement following Mamdani's victory speech.
"The conventional wisdom would tell you that I am far from the perfect candidate," he told onlookers earlier this week.

"I am young, despite my best efforts to grow older. I am Muslim. I am a democratic socialist. And most damning of all, I refuse to apologise for any of this."

Mamdani also promised to 'wake up each morning with a singular purpose', to 'make this city better for you than it was the day before'.
During Monday's vote, the new mayor bagged more than 50 percent of the vote, having been pitted against Democrat governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
In the weeks prior to the vote, Mamdani's predecessor in the role, Eric Adams, dropped the bombshell news that he wouldn't be running for re-election following his indictment on federal corruption charges earlier this year.
Despite later being dropped by Trump's administration in exchange for cooperation on the ongoing national ICE raids, in September of last year, Adams, 65, was initially charged with bribery, campaign finance and conspiracy offences.
Now, I know what you're thinking: what on earth does all of this have to do with Sabrina Carpenter?
To answer that, we need to look all the way back to 2023, when the music video for her chart-topping single 'Feather' was released to the world.

The clip, for anyone who hasn't seen it, was filmed at the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn and features an array of men being killed off for acting inappropriately towards her before being thrown into cute pastel coffins, as she dances around their bodies.
In response, Brooklyn Bishop Robert Brennan claimed he was 'appalled' by the 'provocative' video, adding that the parish 'did not follow diocesan policy regarding the filming on church property, which includes a review of the scenes and script'.
Herself clapping back, Carpenter jibed to Variety: "Jesus was a carpenter."
More specifically, it was Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello who'd signed off on the project and who Brennan directed his rage at. The priest later apologised for the oversight, resigning from his administrative duties as a result.
In the months that followed, Gigantiello was thrust into the federal investigation against Adams, himself being investigated over dealings with Frank Carone, the former mayor's former chief of staff.

It was understood at the time that Gigantiello's embroilment in the 'Feather' fiasco is what placed him under the spotlight of the probe, which uncovered some suspicious business transactions with the mayor's office.
As a result, Adams resigned from the 2025 election race.
Joking about her connection to the mayor's indictment during a concert at Madison Square Garden last year, Carpenter told attendees: "Should we talk about how I got the mayor indicted, or?"
As such, a number have credited the star's music video for having reduced the amount of competition against Mamdani, possibly assisting in securing his win.
