Donald Trump finally responds to Zohran Mamdani election win but people are baffled by his remarks

The US President acknowledged Zohran Mamdani's win with a cryptic comment

After Zohran Mamdani was voted in as New York City mayor yesterday (5 November), there is one person's reaction that everyone has been waiting for.

Considering the 34-year-old democratic socialist described himself as Donald Trump's 'worst nightmare,' Americans have been waiting to see what the US President has to say about the result.

Mamdani made history with his landslide win, defeating former governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa and clearing 50 percent of the vote.

When he steps into office on January 1, he will be the city’s first Muslim mayor, the first of South Asian heritage and the first born in Africa, as well as the youngest in more than a century.

During his victory speech, he spoke to Trump directly as he said: "New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants and as of tonight, led by an immigrant.

"If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."

He added: "This is not only how we stop Trump. It's how we stop the next one. So Donald Trump, since I know you're watching, I have four words for you: 'Turn the volume up.'"

The two have very publicly butted heads ever since Mamdani announced he was running for the position.

The Republican leader previously threatened to arrest Mamdani as well as threatening to withhold funding from the city if he were to be elected.

Trump previously ranted on Truth Social: "He is going to have problems with Washington like no Mayor in the history of our once great City. Remember, he needs the money from me, as President, in order to fulfil all of his FAKE Communist promises.

"He won’t be getting any of it, so what’s the point of voting for him? This ideology has failed, always, for thousands of years. It will fail again, and that’s guaranteed!"

So, as we say, people have been keen to see what the President has to say about the democratic socialist's victory.

Initially, he cryptically wrote on Truth Social: "…AND SO IT BEGINS!"

But since then, he's issued a pretty bizarre and cryptic comment about 'taking care of it'.

Speaking at the America Business Forum in Miami, Trump took a swipe at Mandami as he said: "We lost a little bit of sovereignty last night in New York, but we’ll take care of that. Don’t worry about it."

And people are less than impressed with the comment.

One Twitter user penned: "What the f**k does this mean?" while a second added: "What exactly does Trump mean by losing sovereignty in New York?"

"He always talk like he’s narrating a movie only he’s see," penned a third, with a fourth agreeing: "Bro talking about sovereignty like he didn’t turn the country into a live-action dystopian fanfic."

A fifth wrote: "Claiming we 'lost a little bit of sovereignty' is a dangerous mindset that undermines individual rights. If we keep conceding power, when will we ever regain it? What’s the plan to ensure liberty isn’t just a talking point?"

Someone else chimed in with: "What the f**k does bro mean we'll take care of it" and another questioned: "Take care of it? How can people support speaking like this."

"??? Wtf does that even mean lmao," asked someone else, while another wrote: "So that’s kinda terrifying."
