Melania Trump has set tongues wagging by making a public appearance with husband Donald that spectators have described as 'excruciating'.
The United States' First Lady joined the Republican POTUS on the White House's South Lawn on Thursday (12 June) for a congressional picnic, with the presidential pair being papped welcoming guests together.
The event takes place every year, seeing members of both the right-wing party and their Democratic opposition rallying together for a day of politics-free chit-chat.

And whilst Trump himself may have intended to be the star of yesterday's show, it seems to have been 55-year-old Melania that has stolen the spotlight, having drawn millions of eyes to her elaborate get-up.

Now, even the most liberal-leaners can't deny that the mother-of-one has a sharp eye for style and is regularly seen rocking designer brands, eccentric accessories and bold headpieces.
I mean, who could possibly forget the extremely wide-brimmed hat she wore to Trump's inauguration, which she appeared to use to block his kisses? Pretty iconic, if you ask me.

This week, however, Melania drew spectators' attention to her feet, having been seen strolling through the White House lawn in a towering pair of stiletto heels.
Her controversial choice of footwear for a daytime event has sparked serious questions, however, with worried social media users wondering how on earth she does it. "My feet hurt just looking at those pumps," one noted.
"But they are beautiful. My mother used to say...No beauty without pain. lol."

Another went on to confess: "I don't know how she walks on grass in those pumps. She always looks absolutely beautiful."
"She is absolutely stunning always," a third gushed. "I cannot wear heels like that for longer than three hours max."
A fourth noted: "All I think of her feet must be hurting. I can never wear such heels."
"My feet hurt just looking at those stilettos," wrote another.

Melania's shoes aren't the only accessory to have caused quite a stir this week.
On Tuesday, she and the president ventured to a live performance of Les Miserables at the Kennedy Center, in Washington, where she donned a gigantic pair of sunglasses, inadvertently keeping afloat the infamous 'body double' theory.
For those unfamiliar with the bonkers proposition, it has long been joked that many of the First Lady's recent public appearances have actually been an 'actress' was hired to play her.

And a huge proportion of the 'proof' used to support this crazy notion comes from the grand, often elaborately-styled accessories that she wears out and about, including the huge specs she wore to Les Mis.
"Sunglasses, that's fake Melania," one social media user joked earlier this week.
Another went on: "Cool to see fake Melania is out and about."
A third asked: "Why is Fake Melania wearing sunglasses at night again?"
