President Donald Trump has shared a glimpse into the White House's $300 million ballroom renovation.

The decision to do the work on the building was met with anger when it was first announced due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, with many Americans currently relying on food stamps to get by.

However, Trump's supporters pointed out that he was funding the renovation from his own pocket as well as receiving cash from a number of donors, rather than taking from the public purse.

The 79-year-old recently shared an update to the renovations on Truth Social, where he has also been posting about giving a $2,000 dividend to most Americans, generated by his equally controversial tariff scheme.

Supporters rushed to share their praise, calling the sneak peek 'next level'.

"Everybody's going to be eating in style," wrote one person, as a second added: "The ballroom is good for dancing."

Another gushed: "That gleaming main entrance to the new White House ballroom dazzles with old-world charm, a nod to presidents who've dreamed big for state galas that bind nations."

However, one critic penned: "Who cares? Only the powerful and influential and wealthy can have a sit on the table. Average Americans can only be lucky in a lifetime."

Someone else claimed: "It's vulgar, and has an ambience of a funeral home."

It comes after Trump also shared pictures of a new bathroom addition.

"The Refurbished Lincoln Bathroom in the White House - Highly polished, Statuary marble!" he wrote, along with pics of a lot of marble, last month.

The project is being shared as the US government continues to be caught in the middle of its longest shutdown in history, thanks to Republicans and Democrats being unable to agree on passing a bill funding government services.

"Forty million Americans are about to lose food assistance, and this guy’s posting pictures of his upgrades to the White House s****r," one critic wrote.

Another pointed out: "15 million Americans are going to lose their health care."

The price tag of $300 million is $100 million more than originally anticipated for the project, and supporters and critics alike are still waiting to see what the money has actually created.

The original plan also didn't involve knocking down the East Wing, but a photo was then shared of what looked like rubble everywhere.

Further updates are expected to be shared on Truth Social as the renovations continue.

A White House spokesperson previously told Tyla: "President Trump is making the White House beautiful and giving it the glory it deserves at no cost to the taxpayer – something everyone should celebrate. Only people with a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome would find a problem with that."
