US president Donald Trump has been dragged online after sharing images of his nine-figure White House renovations, just days after millions of vulnerable Americans had their vital welfare benefits axed.
Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) earlier today (3 November), where he gave a glimpse at new marble finishes he'd made to the famous Lincoln Bathroom, which had been lined with gold.
The lavish new lavatory falls under the 79-year-old's plan, announced back in July, to reconstruct a number of aspects of the presidential residence, including by building a plush 90,000-square-foot ballroom in the East Wing, in which he could host international guests.
Within a matter of weeks, however, it was revealed that Trump's construction work would prove much grander than he'd first let on.

Despite initially claiming he wouldn't tear down the entire wing, photos released last month saw the area reduced to rubble.
On top of this, the Republican leader went onto admit that the project would actually cost $300 million, a staggering $100 million more than he'd originally forecast - though he says it's been funded privately.
Giving these investors a gander at how exactly their money has been spent, Trump captioned the snap of his boujee new bathrooms: "The Refurbished Lincoln Bathroom in the White House - Highly polished, Statuary marble!"

However, Trump's latest update has been met with nationwide backlash, who've slammed the Republican as 'tone deaf' for gloating in the midst of a starvation crisis, being that the 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP benefits are in limbo after the money for the program ran out this weekend.
It's since been confirmed that Americans who rely on the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (also known as 'food stamps') will only receive half of their usual food aid, with the government utilising funds set aside for emergencies.

The cuts have been caused by the US government shutdown, with Trump's administration refusing to budge on the issue of the Affordable Care Act, the tax credits of which Democrats have attempting to extend in a bid to keep healthcare premiums affordable.

US think tank the Center on Budget and Policies Priorities says 15 million Americans will lose their healthcare coverage and become uninsured by 2034 under the Trump administration's current plans.
Pointing out the 'tone deaf' nature behind Trump's extravagant renovations, one outraged onlooker responded to the latest post: "Forty million Americans are about to lose food assistance, and this guy’s posting pictures of his upgrades to the White House s****r."
Another pointed out: "15 million Americans are going to lose their health care."
"While millions lose healthcare, Trump erases Lincoln's historic bathroom for tacky gold bling," a third went on to hit out. "Gutting our heritage, one vanity project at a time."

A fourth continued: "While Trump splurges millions on gold-plated toilets for his ego, 15 million Americans face losing Medicaid, proving his ‘America First’ is really just 'Me First.'"
