US President Donald Trump has unveiled a new portrait in the White House's West Wing - but people have noticed something unusual about it after having a closer look.
Sharing the portrait on the official White House Twitter account, Trump could be seen walking among several American flags, against a burnt orange background.
The portrait was revealed by Deputy Assistant to Trump, Sebastian Gorka, just hours after the president hosted European leaders at the White House this week.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump said the talks had been 'very good', and that 'everyone is happy about the possibility of PEACE for Russia/Ukraine',

Announcing the new artwork of the president yesterday (19 August), Gorka wrote: “One of the new @WhiteHouse paintings of President @realDonaldTrump,” adding that there was 'more to come'.

According to The Independent, the portrait was created by artist Vanessa Horabuena and is hanging in the West Wing of the residence.
But people have been asking the same question, with many wondering why Trump appears to be walking among flames.

While another added: "Why does it look like the world is on fire right behind him?"
And a third weighed in: "Why is everything on fire?"
Meanwhile, a fourth commented: "Is everything on fire in the background?"

Another joked: "Trump when he leaves office in 2029, leaving a burning reck of a country behind."
Just this week, following his meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin, Trump hosted several European leaders at the White House on Monday (18 August) - including French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, as well as EU Commissioner President Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte were also in attendance.
While the leaders were posing for press photographs in the Grand Foyer of the East Wing of the White House, Trump made a comment about one of the portraits hanging on the wall.

The portrait in question was of Trump just moments after his assassination attempt in July 2024.

Images of the immediate aftermath of Trump with blood on his face and ear, pumping his fist, went viral as news of the attempted assassination spread.
It's this moment that is captured in the painting, which Trump pointed out to the European leaders, explaining: "That was not a great day."
People were pretty confused, with many wondering why Trump had chosen to hang a portrait of his assassination attempt on the wall.
One wrote: “'That was not a great day for me, that’s why I put a 15-foot mural of it on the wall'.”
