Donald Trump reveals 'terrible' nickname he has for Melania that he says every night before bed

The US President spoke in Des Moines, Iowa following the passing of his 'Big Beautiful Bill'

While making a speech about his 'Big Beautiful Bill' over the weekend, Donald Trump seemingly became a little overexcited, and inadvertently let slip a controversial a pet name he gives to wife Melania.

Appearing before a crowd of supporter in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday (4 July), the Republican delivered a 'Salute to America', marking 249 years since the country became independent from Great Britain.

The event also coincided with Congress' passing of his latest financial endeavour, his 'Big Beautiful Bill', which includes multi-trillion-dollar tax breaks and more defence spending, and allows the US government to borrow more money, among other dubious aims.

Despite protests against it - including one from Trump's ex political pal, Elon Musk - legislation was cleared by the House on Friday, by a razor‑thin 218–214 margin.

"There could be no better birthday present for America than the phenomenal victory we achieved just hours ago," he said, kicking off the right-wing festivities with a victory lap. "When Congress passed the one big beautiful bill to make America great again."

As he often does during public speeches, however, the President's list of topics quickly volleyed from one to another, and eventually, he landed on the subject of military recruitment.

It was then that Trump revealed what he calls his other-half, 55-year-old Melania, just before bed, in an unexpected and unrelated confession.

"One year ago, I remember saying to our great First Lady. I said, 'You know, First Lady'..." he began, before pausing suddenly.

"I call her 'First Lady' because it makes me feel food. 'First Lady'. isn’t it terrible?

"Saying, 'Good night, First Lady, my darling'."

For those in need of a reminder, Melania is Trump's third wife following his first marriage to Czech model Ivana Zelníčková (with whom he shares his three eldest children, Don Jr, Ivanka, and Eric) and second to former mistress Marla Maples (during which he welcomed daughter Tiffany).

Seemingly unable to stop himself during his latest appearance, the politician - who shares 19-year-old son Barron with Melania - continued: "Because it reminds me that I’m President. That’s why. Now, I said, 'First lady, it’s terrible. Nobody wants to join our military force.'"

Finally, going back to the aims of his bill, he claimed a huge proportion of cash would be plied into improving the United States' military.

"With all of the things we did, with the tax cuts and rebuilding our military, not one Democrat voted for us," he continued.

"And I think we’ll use it in the campaign that’s coming up — the midterms. Because we’ve got to beat them."

Elsewhere, he promised the bill would 'deport the illegals' living in America, and cut billions of dollars of 'waste and fraud'.

"With this bill, every major promise I made to the people of Iowa in 2024 became a promise kept," he went on.
