Donald Trump accused of making 'Photoshop error' after sharing official Christmas portrait

Donald and Melania Trump's Christmas portrait has been released today - much to the amusement of some critics, who supposedly clocked onto a dubious 'Photoshop' blunder.

For those in need of a reminder, year upon year, White House officials release a photograph of the United States president and First Lady flanked by some sort of festive adornments. For their 2025 edition, released a matter of hours ago (23 Dec), 79-year-old Trump and Melania, 55, stand hand-in-hand inside an entry way to the presidential residence.

Behind the couple, who have been married since 2005, and share son Barron, 19, together, the President's official seal is plastered above their heads. They're also flanked by an almighty pair of flags, one bearing the American flag, one donning a ginormous eagle.

Also stood strong behind the Trumps are a set of perfectly-decorated Christmas trees.

Melania was given the responsibility of decorating the White House this year, bringing in as many as 75 wreaths, 51 Christmas trees, over 213 meters of garland, more than 2,000 strands of lights, over 7,620 meters of ribbon, more than 2,800 gold stars, a surplus of 10,000 butterflies, and 54 kilos of gingerbread.

Interestingly, however, it isn't the First Lady's keen eye for showmanship that has set tongues wagging, but her husband's hand.

Zooming into the official portrait, a batch of viewers claimed to have spotted something suspicious, noting that the photograph in question was actually taken several weeks earlier, on 11 December.

That day marked the couple hosted the Kennedy Awards at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., where they handed out accolades to influential individuals in the worlds of music, film and theatre.

For the event, however, Trump opted to whack a plaster on the back of his right hand - something we've observed before. We've also seen a bruise in the same area on several of occasions, as well as concealer plastered on the back in an attempt to cover this up.

What onlookers have noticed, however, is that the plaster the father-of-five donned for the A-list ceremony has mysteriously disappeared.

Or has it been Photoshopped out?

"This photo was taken on 12/7/25 and Melania is wearing the Givenchy gown that she wore to the Kennedy Center Honours that night," one X user cleverly pointed out.

Another asked: "Do they not have professionals on this? I used to do a lot of work in Photoshop and it’s not THAT hard."

"Holiday photoshopping," a third alleged.

"They photoshopped away the bandage that he was wearing on his hand that day," one also alleged.

Tyla contacted the White House for comment.
