United States President Donald Trump issued a two-word piece of advice to his eldest son Donald Trump Jr's fiancée after the couple announced their engagement.

During the Christmas White House reception on Monday (15 December), Trump announced that his 47-year-old son - the eldest of his five children - had just got engaged to Bettina Anderson.

This will be the second time Don Jr. gets married after previously tying the knot with his ex-wife Vanessa in 2005, before filing for divorce in 2018. Together, the ex-couple share five children: Kai, 18, Donald III, 16, Tristan, 14, Spencer, 13, and Chloe, 11.

Before his current fiancée, Don Jr. was in a six-year relationship with broadcaster Kimberly Guilfoyle, with the couple getting engaged in 2020. However, they parted ways last year, shortly before he began dating 39-year-old Bettina.

As we say, the 79-year-old Republican shared the family news at yesterday's reception before embracing Don Jr., who admitted he was at 'a loss for words'.

"I'm not usually at a loss for words, because I'm usually doing the ranting and raving really well," he said, taking to the podium.

"I want to thank Bettina for that one word: 'Yes,'" he added, before admitting his nerves about popping the question.

Don Jr. confessed: "When you go down there, it's like, you're gonna go, and you're trying to ask, and you're not sure what the answer's gonna be. It's always a little bit rough.

"But she said yes, so that's a big win for the end of the year."

He then offered the mic to his future wife, prompting Bettina to say: "Wow, what a privilege it is to be here at the White House, Mr President, thank you so much for hosting this incredible party, and to our First Lady, these decorations, am I right, aren't they unbelievable?"

She added: "This has been the most unforgettable weekend. I get to marry the love of my life, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Thank you."

The Palm Beach socialite then turned to her future father-in-law, Trump, who kissed her on the cheek before issuing her with the two-word advice: "Good luck."

The soon-to-be newlyweds were first pictured out and about in August 2024. After Don Jr. and Kimberly's reported split in December 2024, the father of five was pictured with Bettina at her birthday dinner in Palm Beach that same month.

Additionally, she was his guest at the family's New Year's Eve celebration at Mar-a-Lago.

It didn't take long for the pair to make their official debut as a couple at Trump's inauguration in January of this year.
