People think ‘we’re in hell’ after seeing Donald Trump’s offensive impression that wife Melania ‘hates’

This isn't the first time the 79-year-old Republican has done the highly controversial bit during a formal address

Warning: This article contains discussion of discrimination against the trans community which some readers may find distressing.

People have been left thinking 'we’re in hell' after seeing United States President Donald Trump's offensive impression that his wife, First Lady Melania, absolutely 'hates'.

It seems that Melania, 55, is far from a fan of her husband's on-stage dancing, as well as his 'unpresidential' impersonation of a transgender athlete.

On Tuesday (6 January), 79-year-old Trump addressed fellow Republicans at the Kennedy Center and, once again, pretended to be a trans athlete lifting weights. Mind you, he's performed such an impression more than once during a formal address.

Before doing it, however, Trump admitted that Melania 'hates' him doing the bit due to it being 'terrible' an unprofessional.

Take a look:

The impression saw him moving his arms in a way he imagined a trans athlete would, before telling his MAGA head crowd: "By the way, my wife hates when I do this. She said - you know, she's a very classy person. She said, 'It's so unpresidential'.

"I said, 'But I did become president'. She hates when I dance."

Continuing his ramble, Trump told the audience that Melania asked him: "Could you imagine FDR [Franklin D. Roosevelt] dancing?"

This prompted him to reply: "There's a long history that perhaps she doesn't know. Because he was an elegant fellow. Even as a Democrat, right? He was. The attack by Japan. You know, he was quite elegant."

"But he wouldn't be doing this," he said, while raising both of his hands in the air. "But nor would too many others."

"But she says, 'Darling, please. The weight lifting is terrible'," Trump went on. "Now I have to say this — the dancing, they really like. She said, 'They don't like it, they're just being nice to you'. I said, 'That's not right. The place goes crazy. They're screaming, 'Dance, please!'"

And it's not only Melania who isn't a fan as much of the internet were left seriously disturbed after catching light of the clip themselves.

One Instagram user penned: "Before you ask, this isn’t AI. It’s Trump speaking this morning in front of House Republicans."

They added: "Ok, so the context makes this even worse. It's his imitation of trans athletes in women's sports, where afterwards he said, 'My wife HATES when I do this'."

"We all died from COVID in 2020, and this is one baaad bad nightmare," lamented a second, as a third added: "I can’t believe there are people walking among us who like this."

A fourth said: "There's nothing to say anymore. The bar is in hell. We are in hell."

"I'm not even from the US, and I feel second-hand embarrassment," confessed another, while a final Instagram user echoed: "This is the bad place."
