On again, off again. Will they, won't they?

Honestly, Donald Trump and Elon Musk are quickly becoming the 21st century's equivalent to Ross and Rachel.

Well, following their colossal falling-out earlier this year, the political pair are now said to be on good terms once again as part of an unexpected new twist in their relationship.

Why did Trump and Musk fall out?

For those in need of a reminder, the ex-pal's row kicked off back in May after Musk stepped down from the Department of Government Efficiency co-lead position that Trump had given to him, four months earlier.

Despite the duo insisting the resignation had been simply because the tech boss' stint in the role had come to an end, it didn't take long for them to begin brutally ripping into one another online.

Firstly, 54-year-old Musk took aim at the politician's 'disgusting' 'big beautiful bill'.

Then, he promised to drop a 'bomb' on Trump, claiming on Twitter, '@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!' - an allegation he's since refused to drop.

Responding, Republican leader Trump, 76, admitted he is 'very disappointed' by Musk's financial outburst, before insisting the father-of-13 was 'wearing thin' in his DOGE role and was 'asked' 'to leave'.

Lastly, the President threatened to deport the South African out of the United States.

How do we know they're 'friends' again?

As we say, however, the powerful pair seem to have forgiven one another over the almighty disagreement, with Musk now publicly supporting the President over his latest policy announcement.

Despite there being no crime spike in Washington D.C., Trump yesterday (11 Aug) announced a major crackdown on anti-social behaviour in the capital.

Speaking during a White House press conference, the father-of-five promised to do this by seizing control of the city's police department, and deploying the National Guard to 're-establish law and order'.

"My father always used to tell me, 'Son, when you walk into a restaurant and you see a dirty front door, don’t go in. Because if the front door is dirty, the kitchen is dirty also'," Trump announced in a controversial clip from the conference that has since gone viral. "Same thing with our capital. If our capital is dirty, our whole country is dirty."

Tesla CEO, Musk later re-posting the video of the President's speech, writing, 'Well said' in his caption.

What do social media spectators think?

Unsurprisingly, Musk's message has caused quite the stir online, with X (formerly Twitter) users admitting they can hardly keep track of the status of the pair's relationship anymore.

"Elon back to daddy Trump?" one attempted to clarify. Another jibed that their 'bromance' was 'back on'.

"Are they friends again?" a third asked, whilst a fourth wondered: "Is Elon coming back into the MAGA fold?"
