Charlie Kirk's memorial yesterday (21 September) led to a very unexpected reunion that no one saw happening.

That's right, it seems that former friends-turned-enemies Donald Trump and Elon Musk have buried the hatchet as they were spotted chatting and shaking hands at the memorial service in Arizona.

Tens of thousands of Americans gathered inside State Farm Stadium in Glendale, west of Phoenix, where Kirk’s Turning Point USA organisation is based.

Security was tight, similar to the Super Bowl or other high-profile events, and the speakers delivered their heartfelt tributes from behind bulletproof glass.

The 63,400-seat stadium quickly filled with people dressed in red, white and blue, as organisers had asked them to, while the high-profile figures in attendance sat in a private box, also behind ballistic glass.

The US president described his political ally Kirk as a 'great American hero' and 'martyr' for freedom as he delivered remarks at the event.

However, one thing that drew the internet's attention as much as the speech was his shock reconciliation with the 54-year-old Tesla boss.

Video footage from the funeral showed Trump and Musk seated next to each other in the box as they exchanged friendly words.

And Musk even took to Twitter after the event to confirm that the duo are, in fact, friends again, sharing a snap of the pair sitting together alongside the caption: "For Charlie".

For those who need a reminder, the Republican leader and the richest man in the world have had quite the public spat in recent months.

Musk called Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' a 'disgusting abomination', as well as threatening to 'fire all politicians' who sided with it, while also tweeting, alleging that Trump was named in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

And in return, the president even went as far as to hint he could deport Musk, so it's come as a surprise to everyone that the pair have been able to put their differences aside.

Now, lip reader Nicola Hickling has claimed to reveal exactly what the former pals said when they finally made up, reports MailOnline.

As Trump greeted Musk, he reportedly asked: "How are you doing?" to which the Tesla CEO simply shrugged.

The US president then said: "'So Elon, I've heard you wanted to chat. Let’s try and work out how to get back on track."

Musk reportedly responded by nodding, and the pair then shook hands, as Trump told his former nemesis: "I've missed you".

So, it looks like even after all of the social media back and forth between the two, they have finally agreed to squash the feud.

According to Sky News, Trump later said of the exchange: "Well, Elon came over and said hello. I thought it was nice that he came over. Had a little conversation.

"We had a good relationship, but it was nice that he came over."

People have taken to Twitter to react to the now-viral moment, with one user writing: "One thing you can say about Trump, he's willing to forgive those he's had disputes with and have harshly criticised him in the past if they're willing to talk to him."

A second chimed joked: "Bro really said ‘I’ve missed you’ like they’re exes meeting at Starbucks."

And a third added: "It’s nice to see such a relaxed moment between two influential figures! Friendly chats like this can lead to productive discussions. Let’s hope for some collaboration ahead."
