Donald Trump sparks major concern after people spot detail in his ankles during public appearance

The US President was seen at the Club World Cup Final in New Jersey over the weekend

As well as leaving Chelsea F.C players baffled, Donald Trump triggered concerns for his wellbeing over the weekend during his appearance at the Club World Cup final.

The US President joined FIFA President Gianni Infantino in handing the golden trophy to the British football team on Sunday night (13 Jul), following their 3-0 victory against Paris Saint-Germain in New Jersey.

Ahead of its 2026 FIFA World Cup hosting stint next year, the Americans were handed the privilege of hosting the first game of its kind, after the Club World Cup went from an annual competition to a quadrennial one back in 2023.

And naturally, Trump refused to miss out on the chance to join in on the fun - even if some English football players were confused by the Republican's gatecrashing antics.

As we say, however, it wasn't just the 79-year-old's trophy-hogging that caused quite a stir, but also his ankles.

Several eagle-eyed spectators noticed that the lower segments of Trump's leg appeared somewhat swollen after he was pictured sitting beside First Lady Melania, 55, in the stands.

Naturally, the viral images have since ignited concern amongst some of the right-wing leaders' fans and followers, with many wondering how exactly he was able to cram his presumably swollen feet into his shoes.

Taking the photos and running, one social media user penned: "Trump’s ankles — VERY swollen. People are talking. Doctors? Silent. Media? Going CRAZY.

"Could be nothing… could be something BIG. He says he’s strong as ever, but those ankles look like they’ve been through a LOT. Not great. Not great at all."

"If he put his shoes on when he first got up or shortly after, they may have fit okay then. But once up and walking around, his ankles became more swollen," another went on.

"I will say it’s not that unusual in elderly folks. He’ll probably have shoe-shaped indents when he takes his shoes off."

A number of users have suggested the swellings may have been caused by damage to Trump's heart.

WebMD describes inflammation of the legs as a common symptom of weakened valves, as per The Mirror US.

While others have mentioned the possibility of deep vein thrombosis, or kidney or liver disease.

It's worth emphasising, however, that neither Trump nor his team have ever hinted at the father-of-five suffering such ailments behind the scenes.
