People are convinced that Ariana Grande may have been shading Carrie Underwood over her performance at Donald Trump's inauguration.

On Monday (20 January) Trump, 78, was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States following his election victory in November.

At the inauguration, Trump was joined by wife, Melania, as well as his children, Ivanka, Donald Jr., Eric, Tiffany and Barron.

There were also a number of famous faces performing, including 41-year-old singer, Carrie Underwood.

However, the star had some severe technical difficulties ahead of her performance of 'America the Beautiful'.

Forced to sing A capella, Underwood told the crowd: "If you know the words, help me out here."

Following the bumpy performance, people took to social media to discuss what had happened, as well as Underwood agreeing to perform at the ceremony.

Now, fans think that Wicked star Ariana Grande may have weighed in on the discussion, after her account appeared to like a post on Instagram belonging to Evan Ross Katz.

In the photo, Underwood could be seen singing into her mic while Kamala Harris stands behind her.

"Kamala Harris evoking Coco Montrese ('Girl, find the note') watching Carrie Underwood at today’s chilling Inauguration," Katz wrote in the caption, referencing a quote from RuPaul's Drag Race.

Commenting, one person wrote: "We stand with Ariana."

While another said: "Ariana out here being subtle but making waves."

Others weren't impressed however, with someone else adding: "Women always support women."

Underwood faced backlash from fans after it was confirmed that she'd be performing at the inauguration.

Despite the criticism, the singer has always maintained that she's 'honoured' to be a part of this 'historic event'.

Fans of the star were clearly not happy with the news, with many rushing to share their 'heartbreak' after her involvement was announced.

One social media user penned: "Carrie Underwood is preforming at Trump’s inauguration so I’m blocking her on all apps and boycotting all her music."

Underwood has previously spoken about why she decided to perform at the inauguration.

"I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event," she said.

"I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future."

Alongside Underwood, opera tenor Christopher Macchio performed the national anthem, 'The Star-Spangled Banner'.

Tyla has reached out to Ariana Grande's rep for comment.
