A husky dog rescued from his cruel owners after being reduced to a "bag of bones" has undergone a dramatic transformation now that he's been given a loving home.

In heartwarming news, the pooch, named Finn, looks like a "totally different dog" according to rescuers.

Animal welfare charity Pet Angels Rescue, in Oklahoma, found that Finn had been chained up for almost two years without access to proper water or shelter when his owner wanted revenge on his ex-wife.

The charity added that the neglect came after the owner bought the husky as a gift for his ex-wife just before she filed for divorce.

Sadly, Finn bore the brunt of the owner's anger, and he stopped feeding the dog properly, as well as tying him to a chain and leaving him.

Finn was eventually found by rescuers but was dangerously underweight and had little fur left.

A Pet Angels rescuer said: "As soon as we pulled up, we just kind of looked at each other, we just lost it.

"He was a bag of bones, he had barely any fur on him. It was absolute pure neglect."

Rescuers found Finn was severely emaciated and suffering from parasites and mange. They also expected the pooch to have little strength left, having been locked up for a long period, but Finn surprised them when he was "ready to go" as rescuers put him on the lead.

After his rescue, Finn began to improve "everyday" said rescuers.

The cute pooch doubled his weight, grew his fur back and began to look healthier.

Sadly, Finn's rescuers said they thought his time at the shelter was the first time in his life he'd been given any attention.

But, after finding loving new owners, Finn's story is a happy one.

The spokesperson from Pet Angels added: "His adopters actually came to see him very early on in his recovery.

"They've been incredible, they've given him the best life."

We love a happy ending!
