The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has finally released the CCTV footage from convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's prison cell from the day of his death.
Epstein was found hanged in the New York prison cell on 10 August 2019 as he awaited, without the chance of bail, his trial on sex trafficking charges.
It didn't take long for his sudden passing to soon spark a number of conspiracy theories over whether or not his death was a suicide and whether the disgraced former financier was killed to prevent him from giving evidence that might incriminate politicians, royal family members and celebrities alike.
According to such conspiracy theorists, Epstein kept hold of a list of clients who he blackmailed for influence.
And, it was this exact secret ring of famous and government figures that they are convinced had the convicted sex offender killed before staging it to look like a suicide.
The FBI has issued a major update on the Jeffrey Epstein case (Stephanie Keith / Stringer / Getty Images) In a new joint investigation, the Justice Department and FBI have made a number of conclusions about the case, namely sharing a crucial update on Epstein's 'client list', adding that Epstein was not murdered during his 36 day stay at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.
The investigation also found no evidence that Epstein 'blackmailed prominent individuals', according to the two-page memo.
The memo also says that no one else involved in the Epstein case will be charged, with Epstein's associate Ghislaine Maxwell currently serving a 20-year sentence for child sex trafficking and related offences.
Earlier this year, the FBI claimed they had proof that Epstein's death was a suicide and that they had a video to prove it - which they've now released following the investigation.
The footage in question is more than 10 hours of CCTV of the view in front of Epstein's cell door.
According to the memo, investigators closely examined footage of Epstein's prison cell between around 10:40pm on August 9, 2019, when Epstein was locked in his cell and around 6:30am the next day, when he was found unresponsive.
While the door itself isn't visible, AXIOS reports that the FBI and the Justice Department say it proves that nobody murdered Epstein as the camera would have seen anyone going to the door and entering the cell.
"The FBI enhanced the relevant footage by increasing its contrast, balancing the color, and improving its sharpness for greater clarity and viewability," the memo says.
The memo summarised that investigators found 'no incriminating 'client list'' of Epstein's, 'no credible evidence... that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals,' and no 'evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.'
