Hero speaks out after saving baby rolling towards busy road after woman fails to stop it

He's said he doesn't want to think about what would have happened had he not been in the right place at the right time

A heroic passerby who saved a baby from rolling directly into a busy road has spoken out.

Heart-stopping CCTV footage caught the moment the pram the baby was in headed straight towards traffic on a California highway - before a man stepped in and saved the day. You can see the footage here:

In the clip, the stroller can be seen rolling down the driveway, as the baby boy’s great auntie attempts to run after it, but she falls to her knees and is seemingly unable to get up.

Donna Gunderson, who was nearby at the time, told NBCLA: "I heard screaming to the right.

"And I look back and I see a stroller going down the driveway and my heart dropped.”

Fortunately, at this moment Donna spots her brother, Ron Nessman, running towards the pram as it gets blown towards the busy highway.

"The cars do 50-55 and it was a busy time of day,” Donna added.

Thankfully, Ross gets to the stroller just in time to stop it hitting the heavy traffic.

Ross said: "I knew I could get it and I got it and I'm thankful for that because I really wouldn't want to see the end result if I wasn't there.”

Ross said he’s thankful that both the baby boy and his great auntie are doing OK after the scary incident.

"She tried everything she possibly could to get up. Her knees were bleeding when I got up to her. She was still shocked and she was crying," he added.

Donna said the shocking clip should serve as a warning to those who use a pram to never forget to put a lock on the wheels up hills and during windy days.

“Just as simple as hitting the brake," she said.
