Grimes has shown off a brand new tattoo that she got on her face, but has since said that people have had a mixed reaction.
The singer and songwriter, who is also the ex of billionaire Elon Musk, posted with the new ink on her Instagram page.
Face tattoos can be a topic of controversy. Some people claim they've been turned down for jobs because they have them, while Kim Kardashian recently got slammed on social media for her daughter North West's face tats, even though they were fake.
Now Grimes is showing off her own face inking, and many fans had an unusual response.

So much so that Grimes even noted that the reaction to the tattoo was not quite what she expected.
In fact, she even said that people had barely seemed to notice the design at all.
The tattoo was a small curved line which made its way across the side of her face, starting from the side of her forehead and going through her eyebrow and her eye before curling just over her cheekbone.

And in fairness, if you didn't know what you were looking for it would be an easy one to miss despite being on her face.
In a post to her social media page, Grimes wrote deflatedly: “Spent like ten years emotionally working up to a face tattoo but I guess I drew on my face too much and literally no one noticed."

She added that 'not even parents' had noticed her new face tattoo.
Grimes, 37, went on to pay tribute to the tattoo artist, and highlight the growing popularity of tattoos.
“That said I think @glyphomancer is onto something truly novel and innovative with her work esp on face tats - there’s a true beauty, delicacy, and innovation here imo,” she wrote.

“Feel like tats are in a crazy renaissance period that’s sort of under appreciated atm.”
Several fans had a mixed reaction to the celebrity's new ink.
One asked: “Is the face tattoo in the room with us??” while another simply wrote: “Shoook”.
A third was a little more direct, writing: “I remember my first Ringworm.”

The tattoo also featured in the music video for her new single 'Artificial Angels', which was released earlier this week.
Watching through the music video the tattoo is clearly visible in some shots - though if you didn't know it was a tattoo you could be forgiven for thinking it was make-up.
The artist who did Grimes' new ink, Glyphomancer, specialises in a style of tattooing called 'cybersigilism' which combines older sigils with a cyberpunk vibe.
