Gabby Petito: Police Confirm Identity Of Body Found In Wyoming National Park

The lawyer representing Gabby Petito’s family, Richard Stafford, confirmed the tragic news in a text to press.

Police have confirmed that the body found in a Wyoming National Park is missing YouTuber Gabby Petito.

The news comes after senior FBI agent Charles Hones said on Sunday afternoon that human remains matching a description of a young woman had been found at a campsite around 20 miles north of Jackson, a town in Wyoming.

However, the identity was not confirmed until today, after a coroner arrived at the Bridger-Teton National Forest on Sunday.

The lawyer representing Gabby Petito’s family, Richard Stafford, confirmed the tragic news in a text to Insider.

And now the FBI has ruled that Gabby's death was a 'homicide' - adding the official cause of death would be announced pending final autopsy results.

Gabrielle 'Gabby' Petito, 22 - a famous social media influencer - was reported missing after not having spoken to her family since late August.

She had been living in the camper-van while travelling across the States with her fiancé Brian Laundrie, 23, with their journey documented on social media.

Gabby and Laundrie begun their nationwide road trip in a white Ford Transit van back in July, sharing videos that became popular online, where they appeared in love, exploring, kissing and enjoying their time together.

Laundrie returned home without her at the beginning of September, and her parents contacted the police 10 days later.

Subsequently, Laundrie is being treated as a person of interest in Gabby's disappearance.

"We are pleading with anyone, including Brian, to share information with us on her whereabouts in the past few weeks," said North Port police chief Todd Garrison.

"The lack of information from Brian is hindering this investigation. The answers will eventually come out."

Laundrie's lawyer, Steve Bertolino, said the suspicions against his client were unfounded.

"In my experience, intimate partners are often the first person law enforcement focuses their attention on in cases like this and the warning that 'any statement made will be used against you' is true, regardless of whether my client had anything to do with Ms Petito's disappearance," he said.

"As such, on the advice of counsel Mr Laundrie is not speaking on this matter".

Laundrie, who has refused to cooperate with the police investigation, is now also missing.
