British mum, 31, who died after putting kids to bed was told chest pains were 'anxiety'

She died following a heart attack

A British mum who suddenly died after putting her kids to death was told by a doctor that her chest pains were 'anxiety'.

Jade Preston, 31, had been going to her doctor complaining of chest pains, but was told that it was 'anxiety'.

However, Jade's loved ones were later told she had been suffering with a heart problem which runs in her family.

The mum from Skelmersdale, West Lancashire, had just put her two children to bed and gone to bed herself when she suffered a heart attack. She was rushed to hospital on 24 July, where was placed on life support.

Tragically, medics realised that her brain had been too starved of oxygen as her heart had stopped for 40 minutes. She died in hospital surrounded by her loved one on 2 August.

Her sister Bethany told the Liverpool Echo: "She was a great big sister and a good mum. She was the first born daughter and granddaughter, she was still so young. Jade was my big sister and she was the life of the party."

She added: "She had high cholesterol and was going to the doctor with chest pains. They were telling her it was anxiety which was how they missed her heart problem.

"She went into cardiac arrest and her heart stopped for 40 minutes. Her partner started CPR and the ambulance came but she went into hospital on life support.

Jade had a family history of heart disease.

"She had another cardiac arrest in hospital and they fixed her heart, she had a blocked artery but she was down so long that her brain was starved. They did scans but said she wasn't going to wake up and turned the machines off."

An appeal set up by family friend Sarah Harris read: "Jade passed away tragically and unexpectedly at the age of 31 leaving behind her partner and three young children. On the 24 July she suffered a major heart attack due to underlying coronary heart disease which led to cardiac arrest.

"After seven days in hospital on life support the doctors informed the family that her brain was without oxygen for too long which caused severe brain injuries and that there was no hope she would wake up. She then got took off the machines and after two days passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

"This has been a shock to the whole family and everybody that knew Jade. She was a beautiful soul and an amazing mum, sister, granddaughter and friend with her whole life still ahead of her.

"I have set up a GoFundMe to raise money towards Jade's funeral costs as her death was so sudden and unexpected and absolutely heart-breaking, we also want to give her the best send of possible one that she's deserves. Anything donated would be greatly appreciated."
