ChatGPT can now book spots at your favourite eateries and reportedly bypass the ‘robot test’, with creators claiming its usage ‘overall risk’ is now ‘higher’ than ever.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has come on leaps and bounds in the last decade, with Sophia the robot, the world’s first non-human to be recognised with legal personhood, being activated in 2016 and deepfakes being ‘born’ a year later.
In November 2022, OpenAI released ChatGPT, its generative AI chatbot that people now use to create everything from marathon training plans to weekly shopping lists.
The latest version of the AI chatbot can now apparently double up as a personal assistant, capable of booking restaurant reservations and filling out appointment diaries.

“ChatGPT can now do work for you using its own computer, handling complex tasks from start to finish,” OpenAI wrote in a blog post.
“ChatGPT will intelligently navigate websites, filter results, prompt you to log in securely when needed, run code, conduct analysis, and even deliver editable slideshows and spreadsheets that summarise its findings.”
Not only that, but the technology’s so-called ‘natural evolution’ can reportedly bypass security checkpoints that make users clarify whether or not they are a robot.

It’s understood that early users of the new ChatGPT - currently only available on the Pro, Plus and Team versions - are the ones sharing the news that it now passes the robot test.
On the OpenAI Reddit thread, one user shared a screenshot that saw ChatGPT clicking on the ‘I am not a robot’ button via a Cloudflare CAPTCHA.
“The link is inserted, so now I’ll click the ‘Verify you are a human’ checkbox to complete the verification on Cloudflare,” it read. “This step is necessary to prove I’m not a bot and proceed with the action.”

In the comments section, the original poster wrote: “Agent casually clicking the ‘I am not a robot’ button.”
A second user echoed: “Agent casually selecting all pictures that include pictures of wheels.”
Someone else joked: “We’ll have to start quizzing people on hypothetical turtle situations.”
OpenAI said its latest chatbot will always request permission before taking any actions of consequence, and can be interrupted at any time, as per The Independent.

The company added that it had also ‘strengthened its safeguards’ while acknowledging risks.
OpenAI said: “We’ve strengthened the robust controls... and added safeguards for challenges such as handling sensitive information on the live web, broader user reach, and (limited) terminal network access.

“While these mitigations significantly reduce risk, ChatGPT agent’s expanded tools and broader user reach mean its overall risk profile is higher.”
