A mum has tragically died just 10 days after giving birth to her baby boy.

The late mother-of-two, Krystal Pitt, devastatingly passed away at just 24-years-old less than two weeks after welcoming her second child four weeks premature.

Krystal's untimely death has now left her partner, 28-year-old Brayden Yates, raising his two young children alone.

Things first took a turn for the worst when the young couple from Australia had been queuing up at a post office after visiting their newborn in the neonatal intensive care unit in Perth Children’s Hospital.

Whilst lining up, Krystal told Brayden that her chest hurt.

"I had her sit down and then pretty quick, she had a cardiac event," he recalled.

Brayden called emergency services, before performing CPR and then setting up a defibrillator in a desperate attempt to save Krystal's life, before the ambulance arrived at the scene.

Krystal was later placed into a medically-induced coma with her condition quickly declining before she passed away in hospital.

Medical professionals believe Krystal, who had a pre-existing blood condition, died from blood clots that had formed in her lungs which caused the cardiac arrest.

However, before Krystal had suffered the fatal cardiac event - the couple had already settled on a name for their newborn child: Toby.

Krystal was described as an 'amazing and caring woman'.

Brayden said: "It was obviously something special that we were able to do it together and I'm grateful for that."

The couple had also began settling into a new home in Perth just a week before the incident.

"We were just about to really start our life together as a family and then all this unfolded," Brayden added.

Speaking about raising the two children without Krystal, who was a stay-at-home mum, he revealed: "So, for me now, it’s a hard one.

"I know it's something that I can do and I'll do it well. But she's left me for some big shoes to fill, that's for sure."

He has since said he will make sure Krystal's memory stays alive for the children, explaining: "I've got a heap of videos and photos that she recorded, especially during the first year of my daughter's life, so I can always share those with her.

"But she was just an amazing and caring woman, she worked in childcare and all the children loved her and the parents loved her."

He also opened up about how important it is to 'live to the fullest', adding: "The super crazy thing, the day before, we were talking about how precious life was and you never know when your last day will be."

Brayden's family is now currently raising funds to cover the costs of Krystal's funeral alongside the two children's care.

A GoFundMe page has since been set up to cover the costs of Krystal's funeral alongside the two children's care.

Set up by Brayden mother, Kirsty, the GoFundMe page reads: "11 days ago my son and his beautiful partner Krystal welcomed a beautiful baby boy, 4 weeks early.

"Little man is still in NICU gaining his strength to come home to his Father and 14-month-old sister.

"On top of the challenges ahead with little man, his beautiful Mum, Krystal had a medical episode that lead to her being placed in an induced coma."

It continues: "Sadly, she passed away, leaving Brayden the sole carer for my two beautiful grand babies.

"Any contributions made will go towards helping Brayden and the children with a service for their Mum and ongoing costs with raising the children."

At the time of writing, $18,680 AUD has been raised out of the $25,000 goal since it was first created earlier this month (16 July).
