It's hardly uncommon for parents to name their children after family members that came before them.
In fact, in many cases, it can prove a rather sweet gesture served to immortalise someone especially inspirational, like naming a baby boy after his war hero granddad.
This tradition is what one mother had in mind when she chose the title for her newborn daughter, hoping to give special shout-outs to both of her late grandparents that had sadly died.
Unfortunately for said mum, however, her sentimental suggestion massively backfired when a horrified family member pointed out that she'd accidentally given her baby girl a rather x-rated moniker.

The rib-tickling tale was told recently by an anonymous Reddit user, who revealed it was her own 20-year-old cousin behind the embarrassing blunder.

"She named her something so horrific I cannot even call the baby it," the cousin explained, revealing that the new mum had hoped to combine the names of her grandmother and grandfather.
The former had been named 'Charlotte', and the latter, 'Harvey'. Can you see where we're going here?
Yep, that's right - the woman had named her baby 'Harlotte'.
If you can't see an issue with the choice, let us remind you that - albeit, spelt differently - a 'harlot' is an old-fashioned word for a prostitute, or a woman who has sex in exchange for money.
"She didn't tell anyone the name idea until after she was named and papers signed," the cousin continued. "My mom burst out, 'YOU NAMED THE BABY WHORE???', and my cousin started screaming."

She added of the response: "We are a loud family, but holy hell. This poor child. Harlotte. HARLOTTE."
Whilst the majority of fellow Reddit users seemed amused by the choice of name, some went on to suggest alternative titles - one even claimed 'Charlotte' itself contains both names.
"That's INSANE," they joked. "Charlotte itself had everything she wanted. Poor kid."
"Even Charley as a full name," another added.
A third went on to say, 'Charvey is what I was thinking', after which a fourth noted: "The fact that Charvey is significantly better....".
"I would immediately and INSISTENTLY start calling that child Lottie and never look back," claimed another onlooker.
Another hit out: "If she doesn't immediately change it to Charlotte, she's a bad person for not making things right for her child's future."
