After the long awaited release of Apple's latest update, users are all having the same problem - with some claiming they will 'switch to Android'.

A new Apple update for our phones before Christmas feels like a little gift from Tim Cook himself, but it seems to be causing issues for users.

The new operating system, iOS 18.2, has been long awaited by tech fans, after the company promised some exciting new additions.

This includes Apple Intelligence - their new suite of AI features, which generates emojis, helps with image editing, and improves Siri.

However, it seems as though the fancy updates have come at a cost to users.

Several fans have taken their complaints about the latest update to X, revealing that the new update is completely draining their battery life.

One said: "I downloaded 18.2 and it really killed my battery I had 70% now down to 34% usually my phone doesn’t drain this fast."

Another replied, adding: "Same here bro. My Plus has an amazing battery life but still it drains over 25% battery overnight after 18.2."

One even considered switching teams to Android in the future, writing: "As an iPhone user since 2011 I really switch to Android next time.

"At this point, there is no reason to be on iOS. Lack of innovation, killing a year old device."

But this isn't the first time that 'battery drain' has happened with an Apple update.

The reason is simple - the update requires extra power.

Some users spoke out in Apple's defence, claiming that they hadn't noticed a difference.

One said: "iOS 18.2 update has been pretty good so far. Solid battery life!"

However, the good news is that the battery drain upon installation is usually a temporary issue.

So, waiting it out may be your best solution.

Apple advised: "If you notice that your battery life has decreased after updating your iPhone, wait a few days and then check again."

The tech giants added: "Even though you can use your iPhone immediately after an update, certain tasks related to the update continue in the background and might affect battery life and thermal performance."

If you haven't yet installed the update, your iPhone should have automatically alerted you that it is available to download.

While iOS 18.2 can be downloaded on most Apple products, Apple Intelligence is only available on the very latest iPhones, due to the special processing power that is needed.

So, if you got your hands on the iPhone 16 series and the two top-end iPhone 15 models – iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max...have fun!
