The much-anticipated Apple Event is taking place today and an amazing new Apple Watch feature has been announced.

Apple CEO Tim Cook stood in the Steve Jobs Theatre in Apple Park today (September 9) and along with colleagues, filled us in on what we can expect next from Apple.

The much-anticipated Apple event featured the tagline 'It’s Glowtime', as well as the company’s logo surrounded by a colourful, glowing aura, signifying an exciting new era for the tech giant.

It has been confirmed that the Apple Watch Series 10 will have incredible new sleep features.

The Watch Series 10 will be able to detect sleep apnea, a first for Apple Watch.

This is made even more impressive by the fact that Apple say 80 percent of people who have sleep apnea live with the condition undiagnosed.

The Apple Watch feature will watch out for breathing disturbances and analyse your data every 30 days, in an effort to flag consistent signs of a sleep apnea issue.

People on social media were amazed by the announcement.

One person wrote: "Wait this is really good cause sleep apnea is really hard to detect and can cause lots of serious medical issue first W for Apple they ate with this one."

Another said: "Wait this is actually a great new feature. I’m shocked."

And a third added: "What do you think of the new Apple Watch? I like the sleep apnea part, to be honest."

The Apple Watch Series 10 will start at $399 (£304).

More to follow.
